
Andhra Pradesh Fast-Tracks ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Project in Anakapalli
Davos / Amaravati, January 21:
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh met global steel tycoon Mr. Lakshmi Mittal, Executive Chairman of ArcelorMittal, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, to review the progress of the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AMNS) integrated steel plant project proposed at Anakapalli in Andhra Pradesh.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the State Government’s strong commitment to the project and instructed all concerned ministers and senior officials to complete statutory approvals and land acquisition by February 15, so that the foundation stone can be laid immediately thereafter.
He assured Mr. Mittal that the Andhra Pradesh Government would extend full administrative, infrastructural and policy support to ensure rapid construction and early commencement of production. The Chief Minister stated that the project would significantly boost employment, industrial growth and economic development in North Andhra region.
Mr. Lakshmi Mittal appreciated the proactive approach of the Andhra Pradesh Government and expressed confidence in the State’s renewed focus on industrial development.

Posting on social media, the Chief Minister said he was delighted to meet Mr. Lakshmi Mittal at Davos and review the progress of the AMNS project in Anakapalli, underlining that Andhra Pradesh is firmly back on the global investment map.
The proposed AMNS steel plant is expected to be one of the largest industrial investments in the State, strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s position as a major steel manufacturing hub in the country.
