Painting Competition at Expo Inspires Screen-Free Creativity
Young Artists Steal the Show at School & Office Expo
Drawing, Painting Competitions at School and Office Expo Encourage Creativity, Aim to Curb Mobile Addiction Among Children
Hyderabad, February 2026:
In an effort to promote creativity among children and reduce their growing dependence on mobile phones, drawing and painting competitions were organized for school students as part of the School and Office Expo held in Hyderabad.
The competitions were conducted with the objective of steering young minds away from excessive screen time and encouraging them to engage in constructive and artistic activities. Students from various schools participated enthusiastically, showcasing their imagination and artistic skills through vibrant drawings and colorful paintings on canvas paper.

Speaking on the occasion, Rakhi Mukherjee, Founder and Director of Expo Galaxia, stressed the urgent need to nurture creativity in children at an early age. She expressed concern over the increasing trend of parents handing over mobile phones to toddlers and young children while attending to their work, leading to what she described as a growing “mobile mania” among children as young as two or three years old.

“Instead of giving gadgets, parents should provide children with color pencils, paints, and other stationery items. Artistic activities not only keep children engaged but also help in developing creativity, imagination, and cognitive skills,” Mukherjee said.
The competitions, held on Saturday during the expo, received an encouraging response from students and parents alike. The young participants displayed remarkable talent, reflecting both creativity and enthusiasm through their artworks.
Winners of the drawing and painting contests were felicitated with prizes in recognition of their creativity, effort, and artistic expression.

The initiative aimed to highlight the importance of art-based activities in holistic child development and to create awareness about the negative impact of prolonged mobile phone usage on young children. Organizers said such competitions play a vital role in promoting healthy habits and balanced growth among the younger generation.
