Tourist Bus Overturns Near Ambavaram in Kadapa District, 10 Injured
Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh): At least 10 passengers were injured, three of them critically, after a tourist bus overturned near Ambavaram village in Jammalamadugu mandal on Tuesday. The accident reportedly occurred due to a sudden steering failure, which caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
According to preliminary information, the mishap took place near the Ambavaram crossroads when the steering mechanism of the bus allegedly malfunctioned and detached while the vehicle was in motion. As a result, the bus veered off the road and overturned, triggering panic among passengers.
Local residents and passersby rushed to the spot and helped rescue the injured before emergency services arrived. Police officials said that 10 passengers sustained injuries, of whom three are in critical condition. All the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Doctors stated that while the condition of most passengers is stable, those seriously injured are under close medical observation.
Police from the local station promptly reached the accident site, cleared traffic congestion caused by the overturned bus, and arranged for the removal of the vehicle. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the steering failure.
Officials said they are examining the vehicle’s maintenance records, the driver’s statement, and the possibility of any mechanical defects or negligence that may have led to the accident. The role of regular safety checks by the bus operator is also being reviewed as part of the probe.
