Massive ₹994 Spike in 19Kg Cylinder Shocks Businesses
TLDA Urges Purchase Only from Authorized Distributors
Hyderabad, May 1: Non-domestic (commercial) LPG prices have surged to an all-time high with effect from May 1, 2026, placing a significant financial burden on hotels, restaurants, canteens, and other commercial establishments across Telangana. The Telangana LPG Distributors Association (TLDA) issued a statement highlighting the unprecedented hike and its likely impact on the food and hospitality sector.
As per the revised rates in the Hyderabad market, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased from ₹2,321 to ₹3,315, marking a steep rise of ₹994 per cylinder. Similarly, the 5 kg commercial cylinder price has gone up from ₹673 to ₹914.50, an increase of ₹241.50. Other non-domestic LPG categories have also witnessed a rise, with prices increasing from ₹122 per kg to ₹175 per kg.

Describing the hike as a “historic milestone” in LPG pricing, TLDA noted that the sharp increase would have a cascading effect on operational costs in the hospitality and food processing sectors.
In light of the price escalation, TLDA strongly advised all commercial LPG consumers—including hotels, restaurants, industrial units, and educational institutions—to procure cylinders only through authorized distributors. The association cautioned that purchasing through unauthorized agents or parallel markets could lead to inflated prices, compromised quality, and short supply.

“Authorized distributors ensure government-notified pricing, proper quantity, and adherence to safety and quality standards set by oil marketing companies (OMCs),” the association stated, warning against risks such as underfilled cylinders and substandard fuel when sourced from unofficial channels.
Meanwhile, TLDA also announced the availability of 5 kg LPG cylinders across Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana. These smaller cylinders are particularly suited for students, migrant workers, and small households. Consumers can obtain new connections and refills directly from authorized distributors by submitting valid government identification such as Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License.
Emphasizing transparency and consumer safety, TLDA reiterated its commitment to maintaining an efficient LPG distribution network and urged the public to avoid middlemen, especially at a time when prices are at record highs.
