Kothagudem, July 9: Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) president K. Kavitha on Thursday intensified her attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), alleging that the party’s ₹1,400 crore bank balance was accumulated through “quid pro quo” deals and demanding that the money be distributed among the families of Telangana martyrs.
Addressing Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) workers in Kothagudem, Kavitha said the funds in the BRS accounts were “corruption money” allegedly received from Andhra contractors. She demanded that the party provide ₹1 crore each to the families of Telangana martyrs from the amount.
Making it clear that she would not return to the BRS, Kavitha declared, “As long as I am alive, I will not join BRS.”
The TRS chief launched a sharp attack on BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) and former minister T. Harish Rao, accusing both senior leaders of corruption. She alleged that KTR was involved in a quid pro quo arrangement with a construction company.
Targeting Harish Rao over the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, Kavitha accused him of corruption and referred to him as “Anaconda.” She claimed that despite serious allegations, the BRS continued to project him as a key leader, adding that the party had lost public trust and would not return to power.
Kavitha also alleged that a company linked to Harish Rao was supplying milk to Sri Chaitanya educational institutions. She demanded that the Telangana government make it mandatory for all private educational institutions with more than 500 students to procure milk exclusively from Vijaya Dairy.
The TRS chief said that if her party comes to power, it would review all land allotted by both the previous BRS government and the current state government to Andhra contractors. She asserted that every square yard of such land would be taken back.
She further accused the BRS leadership of conspiring to prevent her party from securing the TRS acronym. Referring to BRS leaders’ claims that they were not concerned about her party, Kavitha questioned why they had allegedly filed more than 1,000 complaints with the Election Commission of India if they were not worried.
Raising issues related to Singareni employees, Kavitha demanded that the government conduct medical board meetings twice every month to clear pending dependent job appointments in SCCL. She warned that if the government failed to make a clear announcement, she would launch a hunger strike.
