Hyderabad, April 4
An IndiGo flight from Bengaluru to Varanasi was diverted to Hyderabad on Tuesday due to a technical snag. The flight, 6E897, made an emergency landing at Hyderabad airport at 6:10 a.m. with 137 passengers on board, who were reported to be safe. An airline spokesperson said that the pilot noticed the technical issue and diverted the flight to Hyderabad as a precaution. This incident follows a Lucknow-bound AIX Connect plane’s return to the Bengaluru airport on March 10 due to a technical issue. According to government data, a total of 1,090 incidents of technical snags have been reported in various aircraft during 2021-2022. Technical snags are caused by improper functioning, malfunctions of systems, equipment, or components fitted on the aircraft. Flight crews may take actions such as air turn back, aborted take-off, or go-around to avert serious incidents or accidents. Aircraft operators rectify technical snags based on the manufacturer’s guidance before operating the aircraft further.
