Mahabubabad, April 6
15 students at the Tribal Welfare Gurukula Boys’ School in the center of Mahabubabad District have tested positive for COVID-19. The affected students were immediately placed in isolation, and medical services have been provided to them. The district administration has become alert and is taking necessary measures to contain the spread of the virus.

Satyavathirathode, the State Tribal, Women and Child Welfare Minister, and District Collector Shashanka have spoken with medical officers to ensure that the students receive proper medical attention. The district officials have assured the parents of the affected students that their children are receiving better medical facilities and have urged them not to worry. The Tribal Welfare Gurukula Boys’ School has a total of 378 students, and the inter students had already gone home after completing their exams. The remaining 252 students are staying at the school.

The district administration became aware of the situation when some of the students and a security guard reported symptoms such as cough, cold, fever, and sore throat. The medical officers were informed, and RTPCR tests were conducted on some individuals. After one security guard and one student tested positive, they were kept in isolation, and medical services began. However, more students fell ill, and on the 4th of April, 51 students were tested, out of which 15 tested positive.

The school authorities have provided nutritious food and medicines to the affected students and have contacted their parents to inform them of the situation. Some parents have requested to take their children home, and 12 students were allowed to leave the school with masks and medicine for five days. The remaining three students are still in isolation.

In addition to the 15 students, 28 more positive cases have been reported in the district from the 1st to the 6th of April. The authorities are taking necessary steps to control the spread of the virus and have urged people to follow COVID-19 protocols.
