Telangana Government has issued guidelines for granting exemption to all Shops and Establishments in the state for operating 24/7. This decision has been taken after careful examination of the matter by the Commissioner of Labour, Telangana. The exemption from section 7 (Opening and Closing hours) of the Telangana Shops and Establishments Act, 1988 is subject to certain conditions such as the issue of ID cards, weekly off, overtime wages, adequate safety of women employees, etc.

The Management is required to maintain records and furnish returns as prescribed by the State Government within time. Women employees are required to give their consent to work in night shifts and will be provided with to-and-fro transport facilities. The annual fee of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) per store is to be paid for each store to operate 24×7 under the Telangana Shops and Establishments Act, 1988.

This decision will enable businesses to operate 24/7 and increase economic activity in the state. The Commissioner of Labour, Telangana, Hyderabad will take further necessary action in this matter accordingly.
