The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken a significant step towards reducing the use of single-use plastic in the city. They have installed a solar-powered ‘Cloth Bag Machine’ at Kukatpally Fruit Market where shoppers can purchase a cloth bag for Rs.10. The move has been praised by Minister KTR, who expressed his happiness over the decision.
Despite various awareness campaigns, the use of single-use plastic continues to be a major concern in many places. Netizens have applauded the initiative and are calling for similar Automatic Teller Bag (ATB) machines to be set up across the city and beyond.
