Banglore, April17: Karnataka Chief Minister, Basavaraju Bommai, expressed his disappointment at the resignation of senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, Jagdish Shettar. Shettar declined an offer from Home Minister Amit Shah to take on a leadership role in the party, and resigned from both the party and the legislature. Shettar accused the BJP high command of ignoring his efforts to strengthen the party in Karnataka, and joined the Congress party within twenty-four hours after his resignation. Bommai opined that it would have been better if Shettar had stayed in the BJP, as he is a very important person for the party. Shettar resigned after he was not given a ticket for the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka.
