YSRCP President YS Sharmila has been arrested by the police on charges of assaulting a sub-inspector and a woman constable. The incident occurred when Sharmila was stopped by the police while on her way to the SIT office from her residence, as she did not have the required permission. An argument broke out between Sharmila and the police, which eventually led to her arrest.
The police have registered a case against Sharmila under IPC sections 332, 353, 509, and 427 for assaulting the police officers. Sharmila is set to appear in the Nampally court after a medical examination at Gandhi Hospital from the Jubilee Hills police station.
In anticipation of the arrival of YSRCP activists at the Nampally court, elaborate security measures have been put in place by the police. Legal experts believe that Sharmila is likely to be remanded by the judge.
Meanwhile, Anil Kumar, the husband of Sharmila, visited her at the Jubilee Hills police station where she is being held after her arrest.
