Hyderabad, April 24: Raghumareddy, the CMD of Southern Discom, has instructed field level officials to terminate only those artisans who do not report for duty, except for those with urgent health reasons. This directive was issued via a separate memo on Monday, with the Superintendent Engineers authorized to terminate the employment of artisans who participate in an illegal strike, except for those with medical or serious reasons, in accordance with the Artisan Regulation Act 37 of 2019.

CGMs, Financial Heads, and SEs have also been directed not to approve any leave requests from artisans. Southern Discom has approximately 13,000 artisans working under its umbrella. The decision to terminate has been made in light of the fact that any disruptions can result in power outages, regardless of their cause.

It is important to note that the orders explicitly state that only those who are absent from work without a valid reason will face termination. This move is being viewed as an attempt to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers, while also addressing the concerns of the employees.
