Female Passenger Caught with 22 Snakes and Chameleon in Luggage at Chennai Airport

A female passenger arriving on flight AK 13 from Kuala Lumpur at Chennai airport in Tamil Nadu was detained by customs officials after they discovered a shocking secret in her luggage bags. Upon inspection, officials found 22 snakes of various species and a chameleon hidden inside the bags. The discovery left the officials stunned and prompted them to detain the woman for further questioning.

Subsequently, the snakes were seized by snake catchers who were called in to deal with the situation. The woman was arrested and a case has been registered against her under sections of the Customs Act and the Wildlife Protection Act.
This incident has once again brought to light the illegal trade of endangered species, which continues to thrive despite efforts to combat it. Such incidents highlight the need for stronger measures to be taken to curb the smuggling and trade of wildlife, which poses a serious threat to the planet’s biodiversity.
