Delhi, May 1 – India has registered a new record in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for the month of April, with a total of Rs. 1.87 lakh crore collected. This marks a 12 percent growth compared to the same period last year, where Rs. 1.68 lakh crore was collected. It is also the first time such a level of collection has been recorded since the implementation of the GST system.

Out of the total collection for April, Rs. 38,440 crores were collected under CGST, Rs. 47,412 crores under SGST, Rs. 89,158 crores under IGST (Rs. 34,972 crores from imported goods), and Rs. 12,025 crores under Cess, according to the Finance Ministry.

The Central government has also announced that for the entire financial year 2022-23, Rs. 18.10 lakh crore has been collected, marking a 22 percent increase compared to the previous year.

In addition, the GST collections of Andhra Pradesh have increased by 6 percent compared to last year, from Rs. 4067 crores to Rs. 4329 crores. Meanwhile, Telangana recorded a 13 percent growth in GST collections, from Rs. 4,955 crores in April last year to Rs. 5,622 crores this year.
