Hyderabad, May 02:

In a recent incident, the state president of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Venkat Balmuri, was unlawfully arrested while attempting to present a petition to the Telangana Education Minister, Sabitha Indra Reddy. The petition demanded justice for the students and parents of Guru Nanak and Srinidhi Colleges, who were allegedly extorted by the colleges through illegal fees despite the pending Telangana Private Universities Bill.

The police intercepted the NSUI leaders and took them to the Goshamahal police station, which Balmuri described as a brutal detention of peaceful students seeking justice. He highlighted that the illegal raids by the owners of Guru Nanak and Srinidhi Colleges had affected around 5,000 students and their parents. Balmuri accused the Telangana government leaders of supporting the college owners, and stated that NSUI will not cease its fight for justice until the affected students receive justice.

This incident has raised concerns over the safety and rights of students and their representatives who seek justice against educational institutions. It also highlights the need for timely implementation of pending bills and regulations to protect students from unlawful practices.
