Hyderabad May 03
The Telangana State government is set to introduce a decentralised system of governance called the Ward Administration System in Hyderabad. The system aims to bring administration closer to people by allowing them to approach nearby ward offices to get their work done, lodge complaints, and give suggestions to the government. The Ward Offices will be set up in 150 wards of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, and each office will have about 10 officers. Officials from various wings such as Sanitation, Power Supply, Roads Maintenance, Entomology, Veterinary, Town Planning, Water Board, and others will be attached to the Assistant Municipal Commissioner who will be in charge of the Ward Governance System.

MA&UD Minister K.T. Rama Rao directed officials to ensure the system is in place by the end of May and to prepare teams to be assigned to the Ward Offices. The officials have to be trained in the objectives, aims, and the way the system will function. The Minister stressed the importance of ensuring that the design of the Ward Offices is uniform and citizen-friendly. He also emphasized the need for the Ward Offices to be interconnected using technology and social media. The Ward Administration System is part of the Telangana government’s efforts to bridge the gap between people and administration and ensure timely delivery of municipal services.
