
Hyderabad, May 03: The State Level Technical Program (SLTP) of Extension Units at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) commenced on Wednesday at the University Auditorium, Rajendranagar. Dr. S Sudheer Kumar, Registrar of PJTSAU, graced the inaugural program as the chief guest and spoke on the occasion.

During his speech, Dr. Sudheer Kumar urged the extension scientists to educate farmers on the usage of drones in agricultural operations. He emphasized the need to increase production and productivity in various crops to ensure higher income for farmers. To overcome the effects of climate change, he suggested advancing Kharif and Rabi crops at least 15 days earlier.
Dr. Sudheer Kumar also emphasized the need for crop diversification and reducing the area under paddy cultivation by promoting crops such as redgram, cotton, and other pulses. He added that large-scale farm mechanization is necessary to reduce the cost of cultivation in various crops in the state.

Dr. V Sudharani, Director of Extension at PJTSAU, presented a detailed technical report on the extension activities of various units at PJTSAU. Dr. M Venkat Ramana, Director of Research, also spoke on the occasion and suggested adopting digital extension services to reach farmers.
The SLTP of Extension Units will continue until May 5, 2023, with participation from all scientists of Krishi Vignana Kendras (KVKs), District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centers (DAATTCs), Agricultural Information and Communication Center & Press, Electronic Wing, and Extension Education Institute (EEI). The Registrar, DE, and DR released knowledge material on soil health management and weather forecast at the event.
