Telangana Finance Minister, Harish Rao, lauded the state’s Commercial Taxes Department for surpassing expectations and collecting a total of Rs. 72,564 crore in taxes during the 2022-23 fiscal year. Rao expressed his gratitude towards the department for their tireless dedication and hard work in achieving this milestone, during a brainstorming conference hosted by the department at the Golconda Resort.
Rao emphasized the government’s commitment to various welfare programs and highlighted the importance of the department’s contribution in collecting revenue to support these initiatives. The department has been given a target of Rs. 85,413 crore for the current fiscal year, and Rao encouraged attendees to continue their efforts to aid the state’s growth.

The Finance Minister also praised the state’s economic progress, with Telangana having the highest agricultural growth rate in South India, per capita income increasing from Rs. 1,12,162 to Rs. 2,65,942 in eight years, and the state’s transparent governance being associated with good management.
Finally, Rao reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting the Commercial Taxes Department and praised the department’s success in GST meetings, which outperformed other states. Telangana’s social welfare measures, such as Mission Bhagiratha and Rythu Bandhu, have been recognized by the central government as examples of effective welfare initiatives.
