San Francisco, May 11: Google has unveiled its latest innovation, “MusicLM,” an experimental AI tool capable of generating high-fidelity music in any genre based on a text description.
Previously announced in January, the text-to-music AI tool is now accessible to the public through the AI Test Kitchen app on web, Android, or iOS platforms.
Users can sign up to try MusicLM by entering a prompt like “acesoulful jazz for a dinner party,” and the tool will generate two versions of the song. Listeners can compare both tracks and provide feedback to improve the model by awarding a trophy to their preferred version, as explained in Google’s Wednesday blog post.
The tech giant has collaborated with musicians such as Dan Deacon, an American composer and electronic musician, and conducted workshops to explore how this technology can enhance the creative process.
In addition to MusicLM, Google has introduced “Project Gameface,” an open-source hands-free gaming mouse. This innovative device enables users to control a computer’s cursor using head movements and facial gestures, providing accessibility to gamers of all abilities.
By raising their eyebrows to click and drag or opening their mouths to move the cursor, individuals with physical limitations can fully engage in gaming experiences. The project’s inspiration came from the story of Lance Carr, a quadriplegic video game streamer living with muscular dystrophy—a progressive muscle-weakening condition, according to the company’s statement.
