PM Addresses National Rozgar Mela, Distributes 71,000 Appointment Letters to Newly Recruited Government Employees

New Delhi, May 16, 2023 (PIB): The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, addressed the National Rozgar Mela today via video conferencing, where he distributed approximately 71,000 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates in various government departments and organizations.

In his address, the Prime Minister extended his best wishes to the newly inducted recruits and their families. He highlighted the recent Rozgar Melas held in states like Gujarat and the upcoming Mela in Assam, emphasizing that these events showcase the government’s commitment to the youth.

The Prime Minister underscored the government’s efforts to prioritize the recruitment process over the past nine years, making it faster, transparent, and unbiased. He mentioned that the recruitment period has significantly reduced from 15-18 months to 6-8 months, and the process has been simplified through online applications and self-attestation of documents. The Prime Minister also mentioned the elimination of interviews for Group C and Group D positions, which has helped eradicate nepotism from the process.

Reflecting on the progress made in the past nine years, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s focus on employment possibilities while formulating policies. He mentioned that approximately ₹34 lakh crore had been spent on capital expenditure and basic facilities over the past nine years, with an allocation of ₹10 lakh crore in this year’s budget for capital expenditure. These investments have resulted in the creation of modern infrastructure, such as highways, airports, rail routes, and bridges, generating numerous job opportunities.

The Prime Minister emphasized that India’s pace and scale of development are unprecedented in its history. He cited examples of achievements in various sectors, including railways, metro rail networks, rural roads, airports, housing, common service centers, piped water connectivity, foreign investments, and exports. He also highlighted the growth of startups in the country, which have provided employment to over 10 lakh youths.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of higher education and skill development institutes. He mentioned the establishment of new IITs, IIMs, universities, and colleges over the past nine years, with a significant increase in medical colleges and AIIMS. He also praised the establishment of ITIs at a rapid pace, offering new courses and imparting skills to over 1.25 crore youths under the PM Kaushal Vikas Scheme.

The Prime Minister mentioned the positive global outlook for India’s industry and investment. He referred to discussions with CEOs of prominent companies, such as Walmart, CISCO, Apple, NXP, and Foxconn, who expressed confidence in India’s manufacturing capabilities and export potential. These interactions indicate the employment opportunities being created across different sectors in India.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister urged the new recruits to make the most of the opportunities and emphasized the government’s focus on skill development through the iGoT Karmayogi module, an online learning platform.

The National Rozgar Mela was organized at 45 locations across the country, facilitating recruitments in Central Government Departments and State Governments/UTs. The event aims to accelerate employment generation and provide meaningful opportunities for youth empowerment and participation in national development.

The newly appointed candidates will also have the opportunity to undergo training through the Karmayogi Prarambh, an online orientation course for all new government appointees.
