Hyderabad Customs Intercepts Female Passenger Smuggling Gold

Hyderabad, May 15 : In a successful operation conducted by the Customs Air Intelligence unit of Hyderabad Customs at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), a female passenger who arrived from Muscat on flight WY-231 at 14:00 today was intercepted and arrested.

During a thorough search carried out by the vigilant Customs officers, a significant amount of smuggled gold weighing approximately 1476 grams was discovered. The gold was cleverly concealed in paste form inside a sanitary pad, which was discreetly hidden near the passenger’s seat.

The seized smuggled gold, valued at an estimated Rs 77,90,534, has been confiscated by the Customs officials. The passenger has been taken into custody under the provisions of the Indian Customs Act, 1962.

Customs authorities have launched a further investigation into the matter to ascertain the origin and intended destination of the smuggled gold, as well as any potential involvement of a larger network or accomplices.

This successful operation by the Customs Air Intelligence unit once again highlights the commitment of Hyderabad Customs to combatting illegal activities and safeguarding the integrity of the nation’s borders.
