Hyderabad witnesses its first drag racing speed fest, setting the stage for more thrilling events in the future. The city hosted the world’s fastest sport and T20 of motorsports on the outskirts, specifically at Narsingi on Telangana State Police Academy (TSPA) service road.

Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary of Urban Development, shared the exciting news on Tuesday, highlighting the construction of India’s first-ever drag racing strip in Hyderabad. The strip will consist of a one-kilometer stretch, with 400 meters dedicated to drag racing and the remaining 600 meters serving as a shutdown area.

This development follows the successful hosting of the 2023 Hyderabad E-Prix, India’s inaugural Formula E race, held at the scenic Hussain Sagar Lake earlier this year. The 2.8-kilometer track, featuring 18 turns, welcomed 11 teams and 22 drivers who showcased their skills in electric cars powered by a 250kW battery.

This event marked a significant milestone as the first FIA World Championship event held in India since the Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix in 2013 at the Buddh International Circuit.
