Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly known as KCR, expressed his delight as 16-year-old Uppala Praneeth was conferred the title of grandmaster by the World Chess Federation. In recognition of his achievement, the Chief Minister announced a reward of Rs 2.5 crore for Praneeth’s training and other expenses.

KCR invited Praneeth and his parents to the Secretariat, where he blessed the young grandmaster and congratulated his parents for their dedication and hard work in training him. The Chief Minister praised Praneeth’s passion and relentless effort, stating that his rise as a grandmaster is a testament to the state government’s support and encouragement for sports development.

Emphasizing his hope for Praneeth to attain even greater heights and bring laurels to Telangana and India, KCR affirmed that the government’s measures for sports promotion are yielding positive outcomes. He also extended his congratulations to Veerlapalli Nandita, a 19-year-old chess player recognized as a ‘Woman Candidate Master’ by the World Chess Federation. Nandita was awarded Rs 50 lakh for advanced training and other expenses, with the Chief Minister expressing his wishes for her success on the international stage.
