Reorganization of Hyderabad City Police in 2023: Commissioner C.V. Anand IPS Announces Major Changes

Hyderabad May 20: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner, Mr. C.V. Anand IPS, addressed the media today to discuss the recent reorganization of the Hyderabad City Police. The last reorganization took place in 1987 when the city’s population stood at 25 lakhs, and a semi-organization occurred in 2002. Recognizing the urgent need for “Mega city policing” due to the significant population growth, the government decided to focus on enhancing infrastructure, including roads and buildings, to effectively tackle this challenge.

As part of the reorganization, two new Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)-headed zones, Southeast and Southwest, were established in Hyderabad city, which have already commenced their operations. Additionally, eleven new Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) divisions and police stations have been sanctioned. Furthermore, thirteen new traffic police stations and five women police stations have been established to ensure improved safety and security for the public.

To effectively handle the objectives of this reorganization and enhance the safety apparatus, a total of 1,252 new police personnel have been appointed in various capacities. This expansion aims to meet the growing demands and challenges faced by the police department in Hyderabad city.

The reorganization of the Hyderabad City Police is a strategic move to align with the increasing population and improve the overall safety and security infrastructure. Commissioner C.V. Anand IPS emphasized the importance of these changes and expressed confidence in the revamped structure’s ability to enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement efforts in the city.
