
Henderson, Nevada, USA: American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) President, Maria C. Lehman, praised the success of Telangana’s Kaleshwaram Project, the world’s largest lift irrigation project. The ASCE representatives expressed their admiration for the project during a conversation with Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, KTR, at the World Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2023 in Henderson, Nevada, USA. They commended the project’s impact on improving the quality of life for the residents of Telangana.
Shirley Clark, the President-Elect of The American Society of Civil Engineers, described the Kaleshwaram Project as “mind-blowing and amazing,” particularly highlighting the engineering feat of lifting water 500 meters. She, being a Hydraulic Engineer, found this aspect truly remarkable.
Brian Parsons, the Director of ASCE, emphasized the social aspects associated with the project, considering it an additional testament to its success. He noted that Telangana’s endeavor to optimize available resources is a global challenge, and the Kaleshwaram Project sets an example for others to follow.
Lehman emphasized ASCE’s intention to highlight transformative projects like the Kaleshwaram Project in the realm of sustainability. She expressed their commitment to promoting the project through videos and sharing them with others. Ms. Clark also mentioned her plans to show the video to her students to help them understand the design and execution of such an ambitious undertaking.
