Gold Worth Rs 1.81 Crore Seized at Hyderabad international Airport

Hyderabad,May 24: Gold Worth Rs 1.81 Crore Seized at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad on Wednesday. A male passenger arriving from Dubai on Emirates flight EK-524 at 3:00 AM on 24/05/2023 was intercepted by the Customs Air Intelligence unit of Hyderabad Customs.

Upon inspection of the individual and his belongings, a suspicious item was discovered—an emergency light. After thoroughly examining the emergency light, authorities found gold concealed within the battery section of the device. The gold, weighing 2915 grams, was cleverly wrapped in a black cover and placed in the battery compartment.

The seized gold is estimated to be valued at an impressive Rs 1,81,60,450. Hyderabad Customs promptly confiscated the gold, and the passenger, hailing from Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh, was subsequently arrested under the Indian Customs Act, 1962.

Authorities have initiated further investigations into the matter as they work to uncover additional details surrounding the incident.
