SENGOL CEREMONY: Tamil Tradition Marks Inauguration of New Parliament Building

New Delhi May 25:During the inauguration of the new Parliament building on May 28, the Sengol will be ceremoniously transported in a grand procession, deeply rooted in Tamil tradition. As per sources, India Today reports that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will walk alongside Nadaswaram musicians, embracing the essence of Tamil culture.

The procession will be led by musicians playing the classical Nadaswaram instrument from Tamil Nadu. Shaivite mutt priests, known as ‘Adheenams,’ will be present in the well of the Lok Sabha. Upon reaching the Well, PM Modi will greet the priests, who will purify the Sengol with holy water.

Meanwhile, Tamil temple singers known as ‘Oduvars’ will melodiously render the ‘Kolaru Padhigam’ while the Nadaswaram group plays their soulful tunes.

Following this sacred ritual, PM Modi will receive the Sengol and place the historic scepter in a glass case next to the Speaker’s seat in the new Parliament building. This symbolic act will signify the beginning of a new era in India’s democratic history.
