New Delhi, July 26: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced that he has received a no-confidence motion from Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, expressing no trust in the central council of ministers. Members from various opposition parties, including Congress, Left, TMC, JD(U), National Conference, NCP, AAP, Samajwadi Party, and Shiv Sena (UBT), stood up in support of the motion.

However, amid the introduction of bills, Congress-led opposition members protested over the Manipur situation and objected to the introduction of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2023, citing concerns about the right to privacy. RSP MP N.K. Premachandran also opposed the introduction of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2023, alleging it would only benefit multinationals.

Despite the ongoing protests and demands for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence and response to the Manipur situation, the Speaker adjourned the House until 2 p.m. Before adjourning, he reprimanded the opposition, particularly the Congress, for not upholding the dignity of the House, expressing his disappointment at their behavior.
