Brave 13-Year-Old Rescues Herself and Infant Sister: A Tale of Courage Amidst Tragedy
Ap, August 08: In a remarkable display of bravery and quick thinking, a 13-year-old girl, Lakshmi Kirtana, faced a life-threatening situation with remarkable courage. The incident occurred on an old bridge in Dr. BR Ambedkar’s Ravulapalem Gautami, Konaseema district, where tragedy struck a family in the early hours of Sunday.
Ulava Suresh, a resident of Tadepalli in Guntur district, accompanied by his partner Pushpala Suhasini (35) and their two daughters, Jersey (1) and Lakshmi Kirtana, arrived at the bridge around 4 AM. Shockingly, Suresh pushed all three of them into the Godavari River below.
Amidst the chaos, Lakshmi Kirtana’s courage shone brightly. While the force of the water swept her mother and younger sister away, she managed to hold onto a pipe attached to the bridge wall, her determination her only anchor. The darkness and uncertainty of the situation must have been overwhelming, yet she refused to give in to despair.
In a moment that would change the course of events, Lakshmi Kirtana’s quick thinking kicked in. With the odds stacked against her, she reached for her cellphone and dialed the emergency number, 100. Her desperate call for help reached the local police station, where Sub-Inspector Venkataramana promptly responded.
SI Venkataramana, along with the assistance of National Highway staff, raced to the scene. They found Lakshmi Kirtana clinging to the pipe, her resolve unbroken. With their guidance and support, they managed to rescue the young survivor and ensure her safety.
