Anti-Privatization Protest Shakes Mint Compound

In a resounding show of resistance, the Telangana Power Employees Joint Action Committee (JAC) rallied power employees to join forces and thwart the central government’s proposed electricity privatization bill. On Wednesday, the State Power Employees JAC orchestrated a compelling protest at the Mint Compound Corporate Office, commemorating Anti-Privatization Day.

During the demonstration, JAC convener Ratnakar Rao, Co-Chairman Sridhar, Co-Convenor BC Reddy, and Varaprasad emphasized that nationwide protests by electricity employees have been instrumental in halting the relentless march toward electricity privatization. They emphasized the critical need for unified action to ensure job security in the face of this privatization push. Criticizing the central government’s decisions that adversely affect the populace, the leaders stressed the importance of consistently opposing such measures.

Addressing the looming threat posed by the Electricity Amendment Bill, the leaders declared their commitment to mount a substantial movement aimed at preventing its introduction in the Parliament. They expressed confidence in the broader labor community’s readiness to stand against the proposed electricity bill. The protest, held at the Mint Compound corporate office, attracted a substantial number of employees, and its impact resonated for a span of two hours.

Prominent figures from various communities, including Venkanna, Sudhakar Reddy, Ranji, Ishwar Goud, Jyoti Rani, Nehru, Venkatanarayana Reddy, P. Sadanandam, Sri Nivas, K. Kiran, Srinivas Reddy, B. Bhaskar, V. Gopal Rao, JL Janapriya, Satyanarayana, K. Bagaiah, K. Kishore Kumar, Karunakar Reddy, Yugandhar, PV Rao, N. Suresh Kumar, Mallaiah, Venu, and others, actively participated in the protest, underscoring the depth of unity in their cause.
