Israel’s Modern Horticultural Methods Adopted in Telangana: Dr. Neeraja Prabhakar, Vice-Chancellor of Shri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University
Jerusalem, August 10: Dr. B. Neeraja Prabhakar, Vice-Chancellor of Shri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University, highlighted the successful adaptation of modern cultivation techniques for horticultural crops in Israel. These methods have enabled the achievement of higher productivity and quality with minimal water resources and land.
Dr. Neeraja Prabhakar emphasized that Israel’s approach to cultivating horticultural crops using advanced methods, particularly under greenhouse conditions, has set a benchmark for global quality and productivity standards. Telangana State Agriculture special Commissioner Hanumanthu has led a delegation consisting of agricultural officials from various districts, representatives from Rythubandhu Samiti (Farmers’ Committee), and scientists on a three-day visit to Israel to study these methods.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that Telangana’s government has already provided substantial subsidies to encourage greenhouse cultivation among farmers, aiming to enhance profitability. Workshops are planned to be organized for Telangana farmers to impart Israeli-style vegetable cultivation techniques.
As part of the delegation’s visit, Dr. Neeraja Prabhakar conducted an in-depth inspection of avocado, grape, and pomegranate plantations across Israel. She focused on mechanization processes employed in cultivating various vegetables and horticultural crops, gathering insights into successful cultivation practices. She specifically investigated the techniques employed by farmers to produce high-quality eggplants and lemons.
The exploration of Israel’s advanced horticultural practices is expected to contribute to the enhancement of crop productivity and the adoption of modern techniques in Telangana’s agricultural landscape.
