Hyderabad Cricket Association Calls for Schedule Adjustment Due to Back-to-Back World Cup Games

Hyderabad August 20

Hosting consecutive World Cup matches within a span of two days has raised concerns regarding organizational and security aspects, according to an official from the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). The official expressed hope for a one-day break between matches, potentially leading to yet another adjustment in the schedule for the ODI World Cup set to commence in India on October 5.

Following a significantly delayed schedule announcement in June, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) recently rescheduled a total of nine matches, including the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan. As part of these changes, the Indo-Pak match originally scheduled for October 15 in Ahmedabad was advanced by one day to October 14. Consequently, Pakistan’s fixture against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad, initially slated for October 12, was moved to October 10. Notably, the HCA is also the host for the New Zealand versus Netherlands encounter on October 9.

However, the latest development stems from concerns raised by the Hyderabad police regarding the provision of adequate security for consecutive games, suggesting the possibility of yet another modification in the tournament schedule.
