Shimla, August 24th: A catastrophic landslide rocked the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh today, resulting in the collapse of at least 10 under-construction commercial buildings. This alarming incident unfolded in close proximity to the bus stand within the Anni market area of the district. Fortunately, as of now, no casualties have been reported.
Remarkably, these ill-fated buildings had been recently evacuated by the district administration due to their pronounced “unsafe” status.
The harrowing images and videos of the disaster have rapidly circulated on social media platforms, capturing the scale of the calamity.
Geological experts have raised serious concerns, warning that the precarious balance of slopes in Himachal Pradesh, notably in popular tourist destinations such as Shimla, Dharamsala, and Manali, has been significantly disrupted due to extensive ongoing construction activities.
