Prime Minister Modi Announces India’s Preparedness for G-20 Presidency and Telugu Language Day Celebration
New Delhi, Aug 27 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Sunday that India is fully prepared for its upcoming G-20 presidency, emphasizing that “our presidency of the G20 is people’s presidency.”
In his 104th episode of the monthly broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ Prime Minister Modi discussed the G-20 Summit, which is set to take place next month. He mentioned that India is ready to host leaders from 40 countries and numerous global organizations, making it the largest G-20 Summit in history.
Modi highlighted how India, during its G-20 presidency, has transformed the forum into a more inclusive one. He noted that India invited the African Union to join the G-20, allowing the voice of the African people to be heard on this global platform.
Since taking over the G-20 presidency in Bali last year, India has made significant strides, breaking from the tradition of hosting major events in Delhi by holding meetings in various cities across the country. This approach, Modi explained, allowed delegates to experience the diversity and vibrant democracy of India, leaving them impressed with the possibilities the country offers.
Modi underscored that India’s G-20 presidency is a “People’s Presidency,” emphasizing the spirit of public participation.
The G-20 is an intergovernmental forum consisting of the world’s major developed and developing economies, representing a significant portion of the global GDP, trade, and population.
In addition to G-20 discussions, Prime Minister Modi also announced that August 29 will be celebrated as Telugu Language Day. He recognized the importance of mother tongues in connecting with culture and tradition and celebrated the significance of the Telugu language.
During the broadcast, Modi congratulated Indian athletes for winning 26 medals at the World University Games in China and extended his greetings for the upcoming occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
Modi also emphasized the cultural significance of Sanskrit, one of the world’s oldest languages, often referred to as the mother of many modern languages. He noted the growing awareness and pride in Sanskrit among the people.
Lastly, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of dairy farming and shared the story of Amanpreet Singh, a dairy farmer in Kota, Rajasthan, who also focused on biogas production by setting up two biogas plants.
