
President of India to Unveil Commemorative Coin Honoring N. T. Rama Rao
New Delhi, August 27: – The President of India is all set to unveil a special commemorative coin tomorrow at Rashtrapati Bhavan, marking a significant moment in the country’s history. This event is part of the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of the legendary actor, filmmaker, and politician N. T. Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR.
The commemorative coin, with a denomination of Rs 100, will feature a portrait of NTR on one side and the emblem of India with the Rs. 100 denomination on the other side. Additionally, the coin will bear inscriptions in Devanagari script reading “श्री नंदमूरि तारक रामा राव की जन्मशतब्दी वर्ष” and “Centennial Birth Year of Shri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao 1923-2023” in English on the reverse side. Composed of 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel, and 5% zinc, the coin will be issued by the Ministry of Finance and will soon be available for public circulation.

N. T. Rama Rao (1923–1996) was a renowned Indian actor, screenwriter, director, and producer, primarily associated with Telugu cinema. With a prolific career spanning over four decades and close to 300 films, he held a pivotal role in the Telugu film industry. NTR was also the founding president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for a remarkable seven years, spanning three terms. In 2013, he was voted the “Greatest Indian Actor of All Time” in a CNN-IBN national poll conducted on the occasion of the Centenary of Indian Cinema. NTR received numerous accolades, including three National Film Awards, the Padma Shri award, the Rashtrapati Award, and various other honors recognizing his contributions to both cinema and politics.
