Hyderabad, October 6: Strongly reacting to Telangana Congress president A. Revanth Reddy’s comment suggesting that the Owaisi family originated from Maharashtra, MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi accused Reddy of echoing the language of RSS.
Owaisi remarked that the Telangana Congress chief’s statements were reminiscent of RSS leaders who often claim that Muslims and Islam came to India from outside.
During a public meeting in the old city, Hyderabad MP Owaisi launched a counter-attack on Revanth Reddy, stating, “We have not come from Maharashtra. We are children of Adam. Entire India is ours. Where have you come from?”
Dismissing Revanth Reddy’s remarks, the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president stated that the Congress leader had displayed his animosity towards Muslims. Owaisi further alleged that Revanth Reddy had a history of affiliations with right-wing groups, including the ABVP, RSS, and BJP.
Owaisi claimed that, at the direction of RSS, Revanth Reddy had joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He further alleged that in 1999, Revanth Reddy had collaborated with BJP’s Kishan Reddy to oppose the MIM in the Karwan constituency.
The MIM president criticized the Congress party for embracing leaders like Revanth Reddy, who espouse the rhetoric of RSS.
Meanwhile, Asaduddin Owaisi’s brother and MIM floor leader in the Telangana assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi, also attacked Revanth Reddy for his alleged ties with RSS. Akbaruddin Owaisi challenged the Congress leader to take an oath at Bhagyalakshmi temple to disavow his RSS connections.
He also questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi about his mother’s place of birth, responding to Rahul’s earlier claim that MIM is the “B team” of BJP. Akbaruddin Owaisi asked why the Congress had chosen an individual associated with the RSS as its Telangana president.
