Mumbai, October 26: Multitalented actress-singer Shruti Haasan has unveiled her latest single, ‘Monster Machine,’ a departure from her previous musical endeavors. This hard-edged industrial rock track serves as an edgy and trippy celebration of the misfit attitude.

Known for her affinity for rock music, Shruti’s new song exudes a rebel punk style reminiscent of hardcore punk bands like Suicidal Tendencies, Misfits, or Black Flag. However, it also incorporates elements from popular industrial rock/metal band Nine Inch Nails, using artificial mechanical drums, synthesizers, and samples to complement the heavy guitar riffs.

The accompanying music video features a blend of eclectic visuals. It showcases Shruti in an elegant lehenga on a film set, and then seamlessly transitions to her punk rock persona, dressed in black and wielding a hammer. To add an extra layer of intrigue, she takes on a Marilyn Manson-esque character, playfully rolling in black mud with an eerie smile.

The song’s production leans heavily into electronic elements, incorporating unique sound design techniques. This approach allows Shruti’s vocals to take center stage, delivering an abrasive style reminiscent of early pop-punk artists like Avril Lavigne. Her performance is edgy and unapologetic, making ‘Monster Machine’ a compelling auditory experience.

At its core, ‘Monster Machine’ is a celebration of embracing one’s darkness, individuality, and defying societal norms. It promotes feminine energy, empowerment, sensuality, freedom, and openness.

In her own words, Shruti expressed her personal connection to the song: ” ‘Monster Machine’ is very close to my heart as it’s so much more than a track for me. It completely encompasses my individuality and encourages the listeners to embrace themselves, their inner monsters and let them out. In essence, ‘Monster Machine’ is so much more than a song; its endeavor is to make the audiences accept their inner darkness, and I hope people connect with its raw emotion and energy.”

The music video for ‘Monster Machine’ is directed by Dwarakesh, with Bhuvan Gowda credited as the director of photography. Music producers Karan Kanchan and Karan Parikh have lent their expertise to the single, which is produced by BLCK production. Notably, besides her vocal performance, Shruti has also penned and composed the song.

On the movie front, Shruti is set to play a leading role alongside Telugu superstar Prabhas in director Prashanth Neel’s upcoming film, ‘Salaar.’
