Hyderabad, December 3: In a setback for the Janasena Party, which contested in alliance with the BJP in the Telangana Assembly elections, none of its candidates managed to secure the required votes to retain their deposits. The party, which fielded candidates in 8 seats, faced challenges in garnering support, ultimately failing to make a significant impact.

Despite initial plans to contest in 32 seats where the party claimed strength, the state leadership reconsidered after facing difficulties. The BJP leadership intervened, forming an alliance with Janasena, despite the party’s limited structure in the state. Pawan Kalyan, the charismatic leader and movie star, known as “Power Star,” joined forces with the BJP for the Telangana elections.

The abrupt shift to Telangana raised eyebrows, especially since Janasena is actively involved in Andhra Pradesh politics and plans to contest the 2024 assembly elections with the TDP in that state. The sudden move has sparked discussions about the party’s strategy and the potential repercussions on its influence in Andhra Pradesh.

The Janasena Party faced challenges in conducting an effective campaign due to last-minute candidate selections. Party tickets were given to individuals who joined on the final day of nominations, leaving limited time for thorough campaigning. Candidates like Mummareddy Premkumar, who contested in Kukatpally, managed to secure 39830 votes, salvaging the party’s reputation to some extent.

However, other candidates, including Lakkineni Surender Rao in Kothagudem, Muyaboina Umadevi in Ashwaraopet (ST), Nemuri Shankargoud in Tandur, Miryala Ramakrishna in Khammam, Mekala Satish Reddy in Kodada, Vanga Laxman Goud in Nagar Kurnool, and Dr. Tejawat Sampathnaik in Vaira (ST), failed to make a significant impact, collectively receiving only 58,014 votes across the contested seats.

Pawan Kalyan’s campaign in Telangana did not yield the desired results, with none of the Janasena candidates securing a victory. Concerns were raised among candidates as Pawan Kalyan joined the campaign only in the final days, leading to speculation about the party’s commitment to winning in the state. Despite his star power, Pawan Kalyan’s efforts seemed lackluster, contributing to the party’s inability to establish a strong presence in the Telangana Assembly elections.
