In a crackdown on drunk driving, Hyderabad police booked a total of 1241 cases during the night of December 31st, 2023, to the early hours of January 1st, 2024. The cases were distributed across various police stations, with Madhapur leading at 98 cases, followed by Miyapur with a staggering 253 cases.
The majority of cases involved 2-wheelers, with 938 instances, while 4-wheelers accounted for 275 cases. Among the age groups, individuals aged 18-25 constituted the highest number with 536 cases, followed by the 26-35 age group at 382 cases.

Gender-wise, the majority of offenders were male, with 1239 cases, while only 2 cases involved female individuals. Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) counts revealed that 485 cases fell within the range of 51-99, indicating a significant number of individuals driving under the influence.
The police conducted a thorough enforcement operation, with the highest number of cases reported in Miyapur police station. The crackdown aimed to enhance road safety and discourage drunk driving during the New Year celebrations.
