
Hyderabad Gears Up for International Kite and Sweet Festival with Global Participation

The vibrant city of Hyderabad is set to host the International Kite and Sweet Festival from January 13, attracting kite flyers not only from various parts of India but also 16 countries. The three-day event at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, promises a spectacle of kites in diverse shapes and colors.
Enthusiasts from different corners of Telangana and various states will converge, bringing along an array of 400 types of homemade sweets, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of Telangana. The festival is expected to draw 15 lakh visitors, including participants and spectators.

Telangana’s Tourism Minister, Jupally Krishna Rao, expressed his vision for the festival, aiming to enhance Hyderabad’s brand image. Emphasizing its inclusivity, the minister envisions making the event a grand success, ensuring free entry for all attendees.
In preparation for the festivities, the minister conducted a meeting with top officials from the tourism department and delegates from various states and countries to discuss event arrangements. Rao instructed officials to facilitate a seamless experience for participants from different regions, seeking their suggestions for future editions of the annual festival.
Describing Hyderabad as a ‘Mini India,’ the minister lauded the city’s cosmopolitan nature, where people from various states and regions coexist harmoniously, representing diverse cultures and religions. He pledged to expand the International Kite and Sweet Festival to other towns and rural areas in the future, contributing to the preservation and celebration of Telangana’s rich culture, arts, and traditions.
Shailaja Ramayier, Principal Secretary of Tourism, Culture, and Youth Services, along with K. Nikhila, Director of Tourism, and other officials, were present at the meeting. The festival is anticipated to become a melting pot of cultural exchange and joyous celebrations.
