A recent survey conducted by ADICO reveals a stark reality: the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to result in a significant loss of jobs over the next five years. Top executives from 18 sectors across nine countries participated in this survey, with 41 percent of companies foreseeing inevitable layoffs as AI usage continues to grow.
The survey highlights concerns that advancements in generative AI technologies, capable of producing realistic videos, images, and texts, may render many existing job roles redundant. Experts caution that while AI promises efficiency and cost-effectiveness, it also poses a threat to traditional employment models.
CEO Daniel Machuel of ADICO emphasizes the potential for a shift in the job market, drawing parallels to previous digital revolutions where fears of job losses were mitigated by the creation of new opportunities. However, recent developments suggest a more immediate impact, with companies such as Google and Microsoft focusing on AI chatbots, leading to unavoidable layoffs.
Goldman Sachs, a leading investment firm, had previously estimated a global loss of 30 crore jobs due to AI adoption. The ADICO survey, however, suggests that this scenario could materialize within the next five years, raising concerns about the rapid pace of technological disruption in the workforce.
