New Delhi, May 17, 2024 – Deepinder Goyal, the Co-founder and CEO of Zomato, announced the launch of a new feature aimed at assisting customers in making healthier food choices. The feature, initially rolled out with the suggestion of ‘roti’ as an alternative to ‘naan’, is part of the company’s efforts to promote healthier eating habits among its users.

Goyal revealed that the introduction of this feature has resulted in a seven per cent “attach rate”, indicating the positive response from customers. He expressed satisfaction with the overwhelming feedback received for this initiative and outlined plans to expand it to other dishes and categories in the near future. For instance, the platform aims to suggest lower-calorie dessert options when customers add desserts to their cart.

In March, Goyal faced criticism for launching a ‘pure veg mode’ on the Zomato platform, accompanied by riders wearing ‘green’ uniforms. Following the backlash, the company swiftly responded by changing the uniform colors from green to red for all delivery personnel, irrespective of the nature of the order.

Despite facing challenges, Zomato reported a significant turnaround in its financial performance, posting a net profit of Rs 175 crore in Q4 FY24 compared to a loss of Rs 188 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company’s stock price remained steady around Rs 194 per share on Friday.

The introduction of the healthier choices feature underscores Zomato’s commitment to addressing customer preferences and evolving market trends, while also promoting healthier lifestyles among its user base.
