Hyderabad: SCSC (Software Technology Parks of India), in collaboration with Cyberabad Police, CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India), and NAC (National Academy of Construction), has launched a safety training program for the construction workforce and drivers. The initiative aims to train 100,000 people in the coming three months in Cyberabad Zone.

Construction is the second-largest employer in India, after agriculture, and employs close to 51 million people. This industry contributes more than 9% to India’s GDP and is on a growth curve, year after year. The industry has been making efforts to train the construction workforce regularly, but with its large size and spread across various sites, it is a mammoth task. This program is a logical step towards reaching a larger section of the industry.

The launch of the program was attended by Mr Krishna Yedula, Secretary-General of SCSC, Mr Shrawan Gone, Joint Secretary of SCSC, Mr Ramakrishna Rao, President of CREDAI, and Mr Stephen Raveendra, IPS, Commissioner of Cyberabad Police, among others. The first program was launched at the Marina Skies site in Rainbow Vistas, and certificates were awarded to a few of the trained staff.

This initiative is an important step towards ensuring the safety and security of the construction workforce and drivers. It is also an investment in the industry’s growth, which is set to reach 76 million people shortly. The training program is expected to be replicated at all big and medium construction sites in Cyberabad Zone.
