This remarkable feat means that the equivalent of 200,000 high-definition movies could be downloaded in just one second.

While typical mobile internet speeds range up to 100 megabits per second (Mbps) with 4G and 5G, and home broadband speeds reach up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps), this new technology far surpasses these limits, offering speeds of 402 Tbps or 402,000 Gbps.
Advanced Use of Wavelengths
Traditional fiber optic cables transmit data using light of a fixed wavelength. However, the Aston University team, building on research by Japanese scientists, has managed to use multiple wavelengths of light simultaneously.
