Hyderabad, August 5, 2024 — Cognizant, a leading global IT company, has announced a major expansion in Telangana with the establishment of a new center in Hyderabad. The new facility, covering an area of 10 lakh square feet, is expected to create approximately 15,000 job opportunities and accommodate up to 20,000 employees.
The announcement came after Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu held discussions with Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S. and the company’s delegation in America. The foundations for this agreement were laid during the Chief Minister’s visit to Davos last year.
Expansion Details
The new center in Hyderabad will focus on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital engineering, and cloud solutions. It aims to provide cutting-edge consulting and IT services to global clients. Ravi Kumar S., CEO of Cognizant, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, “We are excited to expand in Hyderabad, a city that is demonstrating its potential as a technology and innovation hub.”
Government Support
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering a favorable environment for the IT sector. He stated, “The establishment of this new center will have a significant positive impact on the state’s economy and will provide employment to thousands of youth. We are committed to supporting Cognizant and other global technology companies in making Hyderabad their preferred destination.”
IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu added, “Hyderabad’s vibrant tech ecosystem continues to attract leading global companies. Cognizant’s decision to set up a new center here will further contribute to the city’s growth and strengthen its position as a key player in the global technology landscape.”
Future Plans
Cognizant has also agreed to consider expanding IT services into tier-2 cities of Telangana, aligning with Chief Minister Reddy’s vision of promoting regional development. The new center is expected to enhance Hyderabad’s reputation as a leading hub for technology and innovation.
