The Alai Balai program, an annual cultural gathering organized during the Dussehra festival, has become a significant event in Hyderabad. It is traditionally conducted by Bandaru Dattatreya, the former Governor of Haryana and a senior political leader, who has been hosting this event for several years to celebrate the spirit of harmony and camaraderie among various communities.

This year, the event is expected to attract people from all walks of life, including political leaders, artists, and cultural enthusiasts, as it continues its tradition of fostering unity and celebrating Telangana’s rich cultural heritage. The festival is known for showcasing the region’s folk traditions, music, dance, and traditional food, and it serves as a platform to bring together people from different communities and backgrounds.

Speaking during the meeting, Bandaru Vijayalakshmi emphasized the importance of carrying forward her father’s legacy of organizing Alai Balai, saying, “The Alai Balai program has always been a symbol of unity and togetherness. We want to ensure that this year’s event continues to reflect our shared cultural values and strengthens the bonds between communities.”

The committee discussed various logistical arrangements for the event, including the involvement of cultural troupes, security measures, and ensuring a larger participation from the public. The Alai Balai event is expected to take place soon after Dussehra and will feature a vibrant display of Telangana’s traditional arts and crafts, drawing people from across the state.

Alai Balai, over the years, has become a beloved festival that not only celebrates Dussehra but also promotes cultural harmony, drawing thousands of attendees who come together to enjoy the festive atmosphere.
