Record Power Demand of 15,254 MW Registered in Telangana

Hyderabad, March 14: On Tuesday, Telangana recorded its highest-ever peak power demand of 15,254 MW at 10:03 AM, surpassing the previous record of 14,160 MW set in March last year. This increase in demand can be attributed to a rise in the area under Rabi cultivation, the hot summer temperatures, and the growing industrial needs in the state. According to sources from the Trans Co and Gen Co, this trend is expected to continue in the coming days and is likely to reach a peak demand of 16,000 MW this summer.

Despite the high demand, the Trans Co and Gen Co CMD, Prabhakar Rao, has assured uninterrupted power supply to all consumers. He stated that they have already made arrangements for supplying electricity as per the orders of Chief Minister KCR and are ready to meet any demand. Rao added that even if the demand goes up to 16,000 MW, they will supply power without any interruption and provide quality electricity to farmers as well.

It is noteworthy that Telangana ranks second in electricity consumption in South India, with 37% of its total electricity consumption used in the agriculture sector alone.
