Hyderabad Police Clarifies Incident Involving Allu Arjun and Bandobust at Pushpa-2 Event
Hyderabad, December 13, 2024: The Hyderabad Police have issued a detailed clarification regarding the incident at a theatre during the promotional event for the release of Pushpa-2, starring Allu Arjun. The statement, released by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Central Zone, addressed media reports and circulating claims about the tragic incident and subsequent actions.
The DCP explained that Sandhya Cine Enterprise 70 MM had submitted a written request for bandobust to the ACP Chikkadpally on December 4-5, 2024, citing expected large crowds due to the film’s release. However, no representative from the organizers met with police officers to provide specific details about the program, as is customary for events involving heavy crowds or prominent personalities. Despite this, the police arranged suitable bandobust outside the theatre to manage the crowd.
According to the DCP, the situation remained under control until Allu Arjun arrived at the theatre. The actor reportedly emerged from the sunroof of his vehicle and began waving to the gathered fans, drawing the crowd closer to the theatre’s main gate. Simultaneously, his private security personnel started pushing the crowd to clear a path for his vehicle. Despite being advised by police to leave the premises due to the large gathering, Allu Arjun stayed at the theatre for over two hours.
Tragically, the crowd surge led to an incident where a woman lost her life, and her son remains unconscious on a ventilator, even nine days later. The police have asserted that adequate bandobust was in place and attributed the unfortunate turn of events to the actions taken by the actor and his team during the visit.
The DCP also refuted allegations of police misbehavior during Allu Arjun’s subsequent arrest. The statement clarified that when officers arrived at the actor’s residence, he requested time to change his clothes. The police personnel waited outside his bedroom and took him into custody without using force or any misconduct. Furthermore, Allu Arjun was allowed to interact with his family before voluntarily entering the police vehicle.
This clarification comes amid widespread public and media scrutiny of the incident, emphasizing the need for organizers and participants to cooperate with authorities to ensure public safety during large-scale events.
