Minister Uttam Reiterates Congress Government’s Commitment to Making Hyderabad a Global Investment Hub
Hyderabad, January 28: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy reaffirmed the Congress government’s commitment to transforming Hyderabad into a world-class city and a top global investment destination. Speaking at the Hyderabad Real Estate Summit 2025 held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) in Madhapur on Tuesday, the minister laid out an ambitious vision for the city’s future, emphasizing infrastructure development, economic growth, and robust support for the real estate sector.
Addressing the gathering, Uttam Kumar Reddy noted the vibrant participation at the summit as a reflection of the sector’s resurgence. “The impressive turnout today highlights the confidence and potential in Hyderabad’s real estate market. It’s clear that this sector is on the cusp of a major boom,” he said. The minister commended the city’s strengths, such as its moderate climate, cosmopolitan culture, skilled workforce, and advanced infrastructure, which continue to make Hyderabad a prime destination for investors.
Celebrating Past Achievements
The minister credited the foundation laid by the previous Congress government for Hyderabad’s transformation into a leading urban centre. He highlighted key projects like the Outer Ring Road, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, the Metro Rail, and drinking water supply from the Krishna and Godavari rivers, which have significantly contributed to the city’s growth.
“Hyderabad has consistently grown from strength to strength, and with our government’s focused efforts, it is poised to become a globally recognized investment hub,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said. He also pointed to the Rs. 1.78 lakh crore in investments secured by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu during the World Economic Forum in Davos as a testament to Hyderabad’s rising global stature.
Vision for Hyderabad’s Future
Outlining the Congress government’s roadmap, the minister announced several initiatives aimed at furthering Hyderabad’s growth:
- Metro Rail Expansion: Plans are underway to enhance connectivity and ease traffic congestion by expanding the city’s metro network.
- Skill University: A world-class Skill University is being established to train manpower in sectors like IT, manufacturing, construction, and real estate.
- Sports and Future City Projects: The government is setting up a state-of-the-art Sports University and a Future City project designed to rival the world’s best urban developments.
- Musi River Rejuvenation: The iconic Musi Rejuvenation Project aims to transform the river into a vibrant waterfront akin to Seoul’s Cheonggyecheon River, creating recreational spaces, restoring ecological balance, and integrating it into Hyderabad’s urban fabric.
Long-Term Water Security
As the minister overseeing irrigation, Uttam Kumar Reddy assured the audience that Hyderabad’s water needs are secured for generations. “We are constructing supplementary water lines from the Krishna and Godavari rivers to ensure a consistent supply of drinking water,” he said.
Supporting the Real Estate Sector
The minister pledged the government’s unwavering support for the real estate sector, describing developers as key partners in Telangana’s progress. “Our government is available 24×7 to address any challenges faced by builders and developers. If you encounter issues, bring them to my attention, and I will personally take them up with the Chief Minister and Cabinet,” he said.
Focus on Safety and Growth
Uttam Kumar Reddy emphasized that maintaining law and order is crucial for fostering growth and investment. He also highlighted efforts to attract more people to Hyderabad by promoting economic opportunities and ensuring a safe, secure environment.
Drawing from his extensive experience as a former Indian Air Force fighter pilot and six-time legislator, the minister reiterated the Congress government’s long-term commitment to Hyderabad’s growth. “We are here to listen to your suggestions, address your concerns, and ensure that Hyderabad continues to prosper,” he concluded.
