Samagra Kutumba Survey Reveals Detailed Demographic Breakdown in Telangana

The recently conducted Samagra Kutumba Survey by the Telangana Government has provided comprehensive insights into the state’s demographic composition, particularly focusing on the BC Kulaganana (Backward Classes Census). According to the survey, Telangana’s total population stands at 3,54,77,554 (3 crore 54 lakh 77 thousand 554), with significant representation from various social groups.
The survey highlights that Scheduled Castes (SC) make up 17.43% of the population, while Scheduled Tribes (ST) account for 10.45%. The Backward Classes (BCs) form the largest demographic group, comprising 46.25% of the population. Among them, Muslim BCs represent 10.08%, bringing the total BC population to 56.33%.
The Muslim community as a whole constitutes 12.56% of the population. This includes Muslim OCs (Other Castes), who make up 2.48%. The OC (Other Castes) population stands at 13.36%, which, when combined with Muslim OCs, totals 15.79%.
The findings of the Samagra Kutumba Survey are expected to play a pivotal role in influencing state policies, particularly those related to education, employment, and social welfare. With BCs forming more than half of the population and a significant Muslim representation, the government may face increasing demands for tailored welfare programs and greater representation in governance structures.
Moreover, the notable percentages of SC and ST populations emphasize the need for sustained focus on developmental and empowerment initiatives targeting these communities. This detailed demographic data will be instrumental in guiding resource allocation and shaping inclusive development policies in Telangana.
